Commissions

Pet taxidermy

Pet taxidermy commissions are available on a case by case basis. This is due to the grief that the pet owners are going through, but also the condition of the pet prior to death (for example clipped patches on the coat due to veterinary intervention, or injuries sustained leading up to the pets death). For this reason, it's best to get in touch to discuss the situation first here. We will also go over your wishes for the treatment of the remains in regards to burial or cremation with your own veterinary clinic.

Pets that have passed away will need to be kept in a freezer, so if you do not have the space or feel uncomfortable with this arrangement, it may be worth discussing this with your veterinary clinic.

A Safe Bed Night will be donated to Pet Refuge on behalf of each pet taxidermy commission.

Educational collections

Educational collections have a similar process to that of creating artist commissions, in that prior to starting any work, we will need to discuss the tone that the collection will have and what it will be used for.

It’s also important to note that it will be ideal for the predator free or trapping group to supply their own specimens as this will be more relevant to the specific environment.

When getting in touch, we can also discuss techniques to best transport the specimens to my studio in Wellington if they happen to be sourced from a different region.

Please contact me here to discus your educational collection requirements.

Artist commissions

If you have an idea for a taxidermy piece that you'd like me to create for your art practice, please contact me here.

We can discuss your idea, source a specimen if you have not found one, and discuss any limitations of the specimen in regards to your idea to find the best solution for your work.

It is important to note that this option is for artists only, and that any commission enquiries where I will be creating a sculpture using taxidermy (either as a stand alone piece, or in the context of a collaboration) should be directed to my artist website.

Television and movie props

If you are looking for the perfect animal to create a scene in your television show or movie, the process is very similar to that of creating a piece for an art commission.

I will also need to know how the taxidermy will be filmed so I am aware of any specific requirements of the scene - for example any movements or angles key to the storyline.

Due to specialising in small, more delicate species, my previous clients include: After the Party, Spartacus, Crackhead, Uncommon Company, and Head Girl. Please contact me here to discuss your production needs.

Museum commissions

Museum commission projects are also similar to artist commission works in terms of sharing ideas and presentation requirements, so it is important that we discuss the idea in full before I can provide a quote.

We can also go over transporting the specimen if it is out of the Wellington region, and Department of Conservation permit requirements at the beginning of the process as these aspects can be quite involved.

For more information on this service, feel free to contact me here.

Pricing

Once we have discussed the project requirements, I will provide a quote and a time frame. This will be based on an estimate of the hours it will take to complete the piece and the materials I will need.

A deposit of 50% is required to book the commission, and the remaining balance will be due before or on pick up.

Please be aware that I cannot store taxidermy for prolonged amounts of time in my studio as it is a busy workspace with limited storage available.
